Firefox crashes constantly. It slows down, black boxes appear on the screen blocking out information and then it quits. I have tried turning off hardware acceleration and that doesn't help. Pages like Google Maps reliably cause it to crash. I haven't updated my graphics driver, but I'm wondering if it can be anything else. I have a ton of crash reports available.

The appearance plug-in for Groovy Blue appears to have been the problem. I updated the plug in and haven't had an issue since. Thanks for the reminder to check all plug-ins.

Do you have any other computer issues or ONLY with Firefox?

Only Firefox. It's not well supported by my company (that's the difficulty in updating the graphics card), but I don't like other browsers. Chrome works fine.

Hello,

In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP in front of the numbers/letters, click it to Submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most resent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box below and paste them in.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

Copy the last 5-7 Recent File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box below.

I may have solved the problem disabling my appearance extension. So far I haven't been able to replicate the problem with that extension disabled and my add-ons enabled.

What appearance extension were you using? Try to contact its support/creator.
