firefox won't play m4v in Linux
m4v video files won't play on a website I'm making. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 and Firefox 50.1
The same m4v video files ran perfectly last year before upgrading to 50.1.
Yes, on a windows or Android (stupid name isn't it?) they run fine.
How do I fix this?

Are you able to play all HTML5 videos as a place to see what you support is at www.youtube.com/html5/ as all checkmarks should be blue.
Gstreamer support has been removed in Firefox for several Releases now as FFmpeg has been used since.

Try the Firefox version from the official Mozilla server if you currently use a version from the repositories of your Linux distribution.
If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure such extensions do not block content. There is security software that can interfere with loading content, so check that as well.
Are there any error messages in the Web Console ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Web Developer) about media files?
Yet you are able to understand things well enough to be using Linux instead of sticking with Windows.
The http://www.youtube.com/html5/ is a easy way to see if you can fully support the HTML5 video player with the web browser and OS. If any of the check marks on page are red then you may not have appropriate packages like FFmpeg installed on Linux. Also as of Firefox 50.0 and later, libavcodec versions newer than 54.35.1 is required.

The same result occurs in Safe-mode (Restart Firefox with addons disabled).

Trying a new Firefox version, for me, would be the kiss of death and would probably mess everything I have up and waste a huge amount of time.
Just downloaded the FF version recommended by Corel. No difference in results. No video plays.
