While trying to checked for new emails, they are very slow to download, and then when I click on the new message, it downloads again and sometimes takes up to 30 minutes to load. I have only been using Thunderbird for about seven months, and It worked very well at first, and then, without any computer changes, it became very slow. Right after this slow down started, Thunderbird update to 52.0, but that didn't seem to make any difference to making it any faster or slower. My local computer shop uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird, but that didn't help, and I'm not finding any local computer repair shops that are familiar with Thunderbird. I'm not very computer savvy, and I'm a senior and don't have time to waste. Any suggestions here?

Do you have an Anti-virus program scanning incoming and outgoing emails or scanning Thunderbird folders and files? If yes, suggest you access the AV product and stop it scanning emails.

Are you talking about POP or IMAP mail accounts? How many mail accounts are set up in thunderbird?

Is one of your accounts gmail? If it is gmail and imap, do you subscribe to see the 'All Mail' folder?
