My computer crashed and I lost everything current. I reinstalled thunderbird on my logon and also another person's logon. Somehow I have my emails showing up on both logons. I want to have my emails only show up on mine. I haven't been able to set up the other email account as she can't remember her password. I may have put my email account on her logon but I thought I had removed it as it doesn't show up but the emails are still there.

You installed Thunderbird on your computer, so it is available to all 'User Accounts'.

Your computer has 'User Account's' which you access by logging on each time.

For some unknown reason, you added your personal stuff on someone elses User account, but anyway, you want to remove it.

This would be the process. You would need to logon to the other persons UserAccount. Start thunderbird. In left Folder Pane If you set this up as IMAP mail account: Right click on your personal email address/mail account which was set up in error and select 'Subscribe' uncheck all the folders and click on 'Unsubscribe' button. click on OK

Right click on your personal email address/mail account which was set up in error and select 'Settings' click on 'Account Actions' select 'Remove Account' click on OK

Exit Thunderbird and wait a while for background processes to complete. Start Thunderbird.

Now check all is removed from the other persons profile name folder. Make hidden files and folders visible: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders

In Thunderbird

  • 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
  • click on 'Open Folder'

a new window opens showing contents of Profile Name folder.

  • Close Thunderbird now - this is important.
  • click on 'ImapMail' folder

It will list all the imap mail accounts. locate the one which is your mail account and delete the folder.

Start thunderbird to confirm all is removed.

Thank you very much. That did the trick.
