I was trying to import my CVS contacts. The first time I got into the wizard, the left column contained the possible names etc. and the right column just " contact" and " email address " to move up or down. When I hit next I got the right address. But when I clicked OK I would get part of the email address in the first column and the full email address in the second column with no name. Then after trying several different ups and downs nothing works. Then all of a sudden the wizard showed both columns identical to each other. I uninstalled Tbird and reinstalled but it didn't change. How to repair it?

perhaps your CSV needs a little manual work... like I suggest here https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/importing-csv-files.html

Note. Excel is not capable of saving a CSV file in UNICODE, so can not be used without exporting. A serious defect in Excel really as Windows is natively unicode.
