Marking message in Junk folder as Not Junk, message disappears
I have IMAP email service through Charter Cable running on a Mac using OS Sierra 10.12.5. When I discover a wanted message in the Junk folder, I highlight and click "Not Junk" as Mozilla Thunderbird instructs so, the message disappears from the Junk folder. If the message in the junk folder is a new message (in bold type), I will notice an uptick in the Inbox showing a new message has arrived. When I go to my Inbox, the previously "Not Junk" messages are NOT there. They have vanished, vaporized into the cyber ether. I have experimented with many unimportant messages to find another way of keeping a message and moving it out of the Junk Folder. I have tried dragging & dropping, right-clicking and using "Move to" or "Copy to", all of which result in the disappearance of the messages. What the hell is going on? I lost an extremely vital message because of this flaw and have no recourse. Please someone give me a solution or I will need to find a better email application.

I've seen this issue a couple of times recently, and have not found a cause.
People usually find that the issue is not present if they use a new Thunderbird Profile.
So create a new profile in Thunderbird to test. If the new profile works better, then import your stuff from the old profile to the new profile.
