Good day! Some days we can't delete unwanted mail messages.
Tell me why does not work the delete button. A lot of letters you want to remove, but not impossible. After the upgrade, many letters went from the server and in the Inbox messages remained only senders and the messages become empty and without attachments. After 2 weeks, all messages ceased to leave. Unwanted emails take up a lot of the meta, they need to get rid of. We kindly ask You to help us.

Does problem go away? If it does not, right+click on folder and pick repair. Please reply to let us know results.

Which of the two items resolved your problem??
I had the same problem on a newly created email acct. Neither of the above suggestions worked.
Upon investigation, Tbird created a Trash FOLDER instead of a Trash file. I deleted it and the Trash.msf file which solved the problem - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-delete-messages
