HP SimplePass not working in FireFox

more options

I have the latest version of Firefox v54.0 (64 bit). I also have the latest version of HP SimplePass v76923. I am using Windows 10 with the latest updates.

After one or the other upgraded recently, the HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader no longer works in FireFox to enter passwords by fingerprint as it used to do. (I have an HP Envy 15 notebook.)

Also, there is no extension for SimplePass in FireFox as there used to be. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP SimplePass program but it has not helped.

Anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks.

When do you think was the last time SimplePass worked in Firefox?

As you probably recall, Firefox 51 was the last regular release to support binary plugins other than Flash. The changes in Firefox 52 might also have affected extensions with binary components (I can't recall). There is an Extended Support Release of Firefox 52 which still supports plugins other than Flash, so you could consider testing that. More info: Why do Java, Silverlight, Adobe Acrobat and other plugins no longer work?

Some plugins and extensions are not 64-bit compatible. If SimplePass hasn't worked since you switched from 32-bit Firefox to 64-bit Firefox, that might be the issue. Perhaps HP or its partner that developed the software can tell you whether it is compatible.
