How do you MOVE a folder (and subfolder) from imap account to Local Folder?

I'm using Thunderbird 52.2.1 (portable) to access Outlook Exchange mail.

In order to archive my Outlook Exchange (imap) mail, I would wish to MOVE folders (and their subfolders) from Outlook to Local Folders. If I click and drag, thunderbird COPIES, not moves the selected folder. If I right-click on a folder under the Outlook account I get offered a COPY option but not a MOVE option - see screen capture below. (Moving individual messages is straight forward, but I want to move folders.)

I could copy then delete. But I am never sure the copy is complete, whereas with move, what has been moved is deleted automatically.

The question is: How do I move a folder and subfolders from an account to Local Folders?

Corrolary question: If I am stuck "copying", is there a utliity that allows me to compare two folders (and subfolders) to tell me they are identical?

Exchange IMAP does not support the move IMAP command (at least not if I recall correctly) so you will have to make do with copy and then delete.

Personally I would use the import export tools add-on and export the folders to the desktop as mbox files and re-import them to local folders. Faster, none of the glitches that go with large IMAP copy actions and no issues with trying to work out where you are up to. I would however suggest you make sure that Thunderbird is storing your messages (the default) on this computer.

The one caveat with the import export tools is you have to create a "root" folder and select it for the import to occur. it does not ask you where to put stuff, it assumes you started with the location selected.
