Firefox will remove the support for older plugins. I used a plugin to change the default keyboard bindings for next/previous tab. Sadly I can't change these shortcuts using the Mac OS build in keyboard shortcut system. Can you add a menu item for those two events so that I am able to do so? And if you are at it, please check if there are other shortcuts that should be remappable using a menu item.

For everyone who also has this problem: I am now using karabiner-elements to modify the keyboard shortcut that is sent to the app. Not ideal, but the best I could find for now.

This is the relevant config: https://github.com/bitboxer/dotfiles/commit/eb4e3d9b5c2b398aabeb5a8cf1fc82b7a0a348fe

I'm actually surprised how many key combinations there are for this in the help article:

Next Tab

  • control + tab
  • control + page down
  • command + option + →

Previous Tab

  • control + shift + tab
  • control + page up
  • command + option + ←

Thanks for posting about the workaround.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will get added to Firefox in the near future. Hopefully at least there will be the equivalent of Chrome's screen to change add-on keyboard shortcuts to resolve potential conflicts. And if they can do that, then... why not all the shortcuts?

The sad thing is that firefox doesn't need to add a complex setting screen to be able to change the shortcuts. Mac OS already has a build in feature for this. I already can change the shortuct for creating and closing tabs that way.
