How do I stop old tabs from going to sleep when not opened for a while?

Ever since the Firefox 57 update, my tabs sort of go to sleep when I haven't opened them for a while -- that is to say, if I switch to a tab I haven't used in a few hours, it shows a white page with a loading wheel. While I understand that it's to preserve memory, waking these tabs up is an absolute nightmare and cause the entire browser to slow or freeze. How do I turn off this option?

If on a limited account of gigs it is wise to let them sleep. If unlimited band with use then, maybe others Copy/Paste keep Alive into the Search Box on the Below URL.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Try to set this pref to false on the about:config page.

  • memory.free_dirty_pages = false

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
