Hello,

A friend sent an email recently with a .jpeg picture attached.

Now, suddenly, the same picture is automatically attached, or at least appears, in any email I compose, regardless of who I am replying to or account I use, and what's worse, it is unselectable in terms of deleting it!

While composing a reply, if you click on it, it has the small resize boxes at the corners, but it does not delete. The picture is not listed under attachments, either, thus my "phantom" name for it.

I have searched my hard drive and deleted all instances that I can see, but to no avail.

How do I stop this "phantom" undetectable picture from attaching itself to all my replies??? PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks so much,

-Alan Iglesias

Try the following: In Thunderbird 'Tools' > 'Clear recent history'

retest new Write message.

did this clear the phantom image?

If no, perhaps the image is located in a temp folder on your computer. eg: C: \Users\ Account Name\Appdata\Local\Temp

Thanks so much for your help, Toad-Hall!

The problem seems to have fixed itself as this morning, none of my replies have the phantom picture! Well, almost, anyway....

What I did after deleting all messages with the picture, I resized the last one down as far as I could before deleting the message.

Now when I reply, I can see the little picture come up and in an instant...it's gone!

So things are usable, but still strange...

Weird, huh?
