This stupid FF 57/58 is making making me sick. Is there anything on this release that isn't broken?

I absolutely hate when videos on a page play automatically and blast out their unwanted and obnoxious sound. Prior to 57/58, I could go into my computer's operating system (Win 7) and set the master volumn to mute all sounds coming from Firefox. This stopped the sound if not the videos themselves.

Unfortunately, with FF 57/58, it resets the master volume control for Firefox (each time it is launched) to the unmuted state which means I GET UNWANTED VIDEO SOUND. (Please don't tell me that I cam mute the sound by clicking the mute button on the offending tab. The whole purpose of muting the entire Firefox application via the operating system is to eliminate the need to do it every time you navigate to a page with an autostart video.

Question 1: Why in God's name does Mozilla do this?

Question 2: HOW DO I GET AROUND THIS?

Mute where and where is the link? How do others know what your asking about if they can know where your talking is coming from what site? If no one can verify or reproduce that problem then it means it's on your side not a Browser issue but Driver issues.

Westend,

Sorry, I'v been working with all types of computers since my Navy days back in '72 so I forget sometimes that not everyone is as familiar with these things as I am. Hopefully the attached image will help.

The easiest way to access the sound master control is click on the Windows "START BUTTON" and type " "SNDVOL.EXE" (no quotes). in the start button search bar. This will find the application sndvol.exe and list it in the results dialog box. Simply click on it to open the application.

This will open the master volume control panel where you can set the master volume level (or simply mute) for any open application. It's important to note that it will only display the open applications at to time that you open sndvol.exe so if you want to sent the volume level of Firefox, Firefox must be open before you open sndvol.exe.

My problem is that you can set FF to "MUTE" here and it willl mute FF for that session. But when you close FF then reopen it, the master control is reset to the unmuted and max volume state.

Thanks for your time, I do sincerely appreciate it.

Ron
