My Thunderbird's address book on Linux is empty even though the needed file abook.mab exists in the Profile folder
I use a dual boot computer (Windows and Linux). Thunderbird in Windows works perfectly fine but in Linux it will show me an empty address book even though the file abook.mab is there. Now how can I make Thunderbird use that file? Or is there anything else I might have missed?

It's not a good idea to use the same profile directory for both Windows and GNU/Linux. You will run into problems with paths as they are written differently in both operating systems.
You can still try it, there are more details about such a setup in this article.
