Hi

More of a feature request than anything

A useful thing in the compose window of MS Outlook (I know - its imposed by work), is the "attach from recent". Rather than sorting through files, it gives the option to attach from the system "recent files" list. This is convenient when you prepare a letter or report then wish to email it to someone.

Hi

I'm using both Windows (10) and Linux (Mint 18), but I was more concerned with Linux.

I have just found the answer, and it is my own lack of observation - the capacity is already there. Int he compose window, select Attach->File. At the top of the folder list on the left of the file browsing window is a link to "Recent", which is exactly what I was looking for.

I don't see a similar option in Windows, so the com %AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent folder would be useful there. Perhaps worth setting it as a favourite directory in the file browser to make it easier to access?

On Windows, there is a folder full of shortcuts which is used to generate the Recent list. You can open it from the Windows Explorer address bar or the system search box by pasting this path and pressing Enter to load it:

%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent

If you are using Thunderbird on Linux, I don't know whether there is any equivalent folder like that on the system you could point Thunderbird to.
