I am often using my metered cellphone tether to browse the internet on my laptop. Sometimes I download Firefox updates while burning data, but I want to check the update size before I risk it.

Is there any way to do this?

hi, firefox updates for the release channel on windows are generally 5-40mb in size (depending if you get a partial update or need to re-download a full version). i'm not aware of an easy to go about checking for the size beforehand, but you can see the size by taking a look at the server where mozilla stores all available versions. for example the following link would contain the information about update sizes for 60.0.2 for 64bit windows: http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/60.0.2/update/win64/en-US/

Note that if you skip an update that Firefox may have to download the full version that is quite larger than a small incremental update, so if you are on a metered internet connection then best is not to skip an update offered by Firefox.

I notice from your link that we went from 15s and 5s to a surprise 40. That's the sort of thing I'd rather have some warning about.

Still, if they're under 40 MB as a rule, it's not usually going to be a problem. Thank you for the helpful replies.
