why do Tweets embedded in websites only show half an image unless I open them in a new tab?

more options

I keep getting only half of a Tweet when it is embedded in many websites. The applies to images and to videos as well. If I right click and open them in a new tab it takes me to the original Twitter page.

It happens a lot on Deadspin and its related sites.

Okay, so I looked at half a dozen stories and finally found a tweet. It doesn't have a photo, but it seems to adjust its height at the very end. First there is just the text of the tweet, then it gets reformatted, then the height is adjusted to show all of it.

I didn't want to record a video, so here's a sequence of screen grabs showing what I see (attached).

Is yours just not doing that last step?

Hi, not to sure on why the pages are not loading.

I tend to try to avoid the cookies as do not have accounts so I always open twitter in a new private browsing window. So I by pass what is happening to you.

Try this please : One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tracking-protection

All other answers I have seen are in the extreme range.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi Tcmac22, could you give an example address for a page where you see this problem?

It works on that particular page, but the problem is mostly happening with embedded videos. But then I just checked the page that sparked this post in the first place, and it seems to be working fine now. So I don't know what to think. Thanks for your help. I am going to mark this one solved.

Thanks, maybe Twitter tweaked something. If you see it again, please post the direct URL to the page and maybe someone can look at it in closer to real time.
