Delete folder and redundant profile folders

First question: FOLDER PANE. At one time I created an account to hold 2 special folders, but have now moved those folders under my default account (and of course changed the filters to reflect the change). I'd like to delete that now-empty account, which TB labeled "Other Mail-Local Folders," but the delete button is grayed out. How do I delete this empty account?

Second question: PROFILE FOLDERS. I seem to have SEVERAL profile folders under "App Data" "Roaming" "Thunderbird" "Profiles." I'm attaching a screenshot of what I mean. Should I just leave this alone, or consolidate? (For instance, move contents of "gmail-1" and "gmail-2" into "gmail"?)

I think you need to access the account settings and "remove account". Right-click on any account, choose settings, highlight the account you wish to remove, go to the pull-down labeled "Account Actions" and select "Remove Account"

Unless you need to modify these folders, I would leave them alone. If you feel that you need to modify those folders (they're taking up too much space) then you'll have to read up on how TB stores data. Simply copying on folder into another could cause problems, including data loss.

It looks like Local Folders got renamed to Other Mail - Local Folders. Local Folders is a 'special account' and removing it is more trouble than it's worth:

I also advise, as above, to ignore the extra subfolders. They probably don't take up much space, and were probably created during failed attempts to set up the account. If you find any mbox files, files with no extension and accompanied by .msf files of the same name, with significant size, you can copy them into Mail/Local Folders (while TB is closed) to view them in TB.
