I updated to 66.0.5 on May 11, 2019 and received notice that adblock plus would be disabled. This comes after all the add-ons were disabled b/c of certificate problem. I had adblock plus for a couple of days(?). I searched for the reason why---it kept giving me the earlier outage.

I searched within Mozilla, I posted this same question before. Is there anyone out there who uses adblock plus? I'd like to know of adblock plus is coming back. thanks!

Gekose oplossing

Try to install the latest version of Adb+ (3.5.2), or try uBlock Origin.

Thanks!

I installed the latest version. As to why there was no notice either from Firefox or adblock plus, I don't know.

Thank you again, now I have to take care of my "naked Lady" problem which I guess is the lack of an adblocker.

Yes,   I do - it's the only extension I use and it's been working all this time (never was disabled).

with 66.0.5?

If you're asking me :   yes with 66.0.5 .....

But also : in Options => Privacy & Security => under "Firefox Data Collection and Use" I checked : "Allow Firefox to install and run studies"

That may have helped ......

I "think" I read, I'm not sure, you are supposed to turn studies off after a certain while.

Are you still running studies?

It's your choice whether to participate in studies. See: About Studies.

I see! thanks for the info.

Yes,   all the time (got that box checked permanently).

(sorry for not answering sooner; 'had to get some sleep ..... )

Just a little tip for future reference - should you encounter problems with AdBlock Plus : you can contact them here and scroll all the way down to "Still looking for help? " (they're really nice people)

Posting this link, just in case it'll help :

it's not my username that has changed, but the avatar and profile.

Sorry, for not being clear about that.

That link I gave you is about your profile ....

But as this isn't Firefox related, you will have to contact Disqus anyway.

Maybe here :

https://disqus.com/support/

And/or :

https://help.disqus.com/moderation/site-moderators

They changed your avatar to "naked lady"  ? I shudder to think what that looks like .....

Good luck  !

Thanks for the warning---I have a feeling this is becoming more involved as the days go on.

It wasn't a warning though; it was a question - about your avatar being changed to "naked lady" .....

I'm not familiar with Disqus, but if you want this rectified (and of course you do) you'd better contact them asap. Frankly, I don't see how Adblock Plus could possibly have anything to do with your avatar and profile changing - this must be a "Disqus issue".

Wishing you all the best  !

Is this 'naked lady' avatar a default avatar on Disqus that is used when no avatar is set (i.e your real avatar is lost/replaced) like you see at this forum for your avatar or is this a real image?

more options

no, I don't believe I had an avatar, or if I did it was one of those geometric ones.

My username is the same, but the avatar is a very attractive woman, with profile that promises "naked lady".

On May 12, I emailed Disqus, Disqus replied with a reset of my pw, which didn't take. The problem is, I "think", that hijacked account is using my pw.

I wound up emailing the site, as opposed to Disqus, asking for support. Site emailed me back, saying #case, etc. I just emailed the site again.

thanks!

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
