Why are my desktop shortcuts rearranged after a browser update?
I've noticed this before with browser updates and just rearranged my desktop icons with a shrug. But it's annoying and it doesn't happen every time. When I booted my machine today I saw that it happened again, and decided to open an inquiry. OS Name Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600
Last windows update was 5/16/2019.
Firefox version 67.0 (64-bit)

Firefox doesn't have control over your desktop shortcuts, so this sounds like more of a Windows-related issue to me. The only thing that sometimes happens during an update is that the Firefox shortcut is added to the desktop again if it was previously removed or sometimes that shortcut is removed and then added again, causing it to be moved to a new placement on the desktop.
All that Firefox could possibly do is tell Windows to create a Firefox icon, but Windows will handle the ordering of the shortcuts.
