not sure what you are referring to - the button is still in the UI

Firefox 57+ auto-hides the Downloads button on the Navigation Toolbar by default. The Download button should appear on the Navigation Toolbar once you open the Customize window. If you do not see the Download icon then click the Restore Defaults button to reset the layout in case you previously have moved this button. Once you see the Download button in customize mode then left-click this button to see the current auto-hide state and toggle its setting. In normal mode you can access the auto-hide setting via the right-click context menu of this toolbar button once this button is visible (you may have to download a file if the button is currently hidden).

Hi moz2u, did you see the note at the end of the "How do I access my downloads?" section about using the Library button? If you think that is too subtle/difficult to notice, how would you revise it? These articles are constantly being updated and improved.

If you actually read my post you'll see I don't mention any "Download button". I'm quite aware of the Download Button on the Firefox Menu Bar (which I've removed because I don't find it difficult to remember Control+J for Downloads or Control+H for History).

What I did say the problem was is that on my version 73 of Firefox there is no "Show All Downloads" anywhere on my Downloads page. It should be at the bottom according to that article. Unfortunately, on my browser it is nowhere on the page. There seems to be no options to display it either.

THAT is the problem.

What page do you mean by "my Downloads page"?

You are clicking the Library (bookshelf) icon on the Navigation Toolbar and open the Downloads panel ?

Doesn't that panel include "Show All Downloads" ?

As I said I use Control+J to get to my Downloads page. Its the same page I would go if I had clicked the Downloads icon on my toolbar which I have removed so I have more room for Extensions. Mozilla loads up the toolbar with so many useless things that just get in the way. Control+J for Downloads Control+H for History. Very convenient shortcuts.

And no, there is no "Show All Downloads" anywhere on the page. Not on the bottom (as the article showed), middle or top. Nowhere. Obviously things have changed recently and they've eliminated it. It would be nice if they updated their Help pages to reflect those changes. But I guess there are so many doing that is a huge undertaking.

Unless....its not showing because I have no downloads recently? But I thought they would show deleted downloads from the past. I thought that was the point of "All" downloads. Perhaps it could be better titled Download Archive or Deleted Downloads?

Good suggestion. I'd forgotten about that option. So handy to try something with all Add-Ons disabled to check for possible conflicts. Its rather time consuming disabling each one and then re-enabling them afterwards! But its still the same. There isn't even a bar on the bottom where "Show All Downloads" is supposed to be on the left side. And now I have downloads in there so my previous hypothesis is dashed!  :) I'll leave it to the angels of Mozilla to bequeath a change.

Unless you people are seeing that bar and you are running version 73 or later? I'm assuming you must be otherwise you would have mentioned it? I'm on Windows 7 but that shouldn't effect anything. I wonder if there is some option I might have selected that would have removed that bar on the Downloads page. I can't imagine what it could be. I don't think anyone would object to it being there. The Downloads page is not a page most of us use often.

If you were looking for downloads from before December 17th:

There is, regrettably a limit of two months to download history. Older downloads disappear from the list.

Good to know. Thank you. So nice of them to not inform us of that. LOL. I was thinking that tool tips would make learning software so much easier. Just hover the mouse over the object in question and POOF! Explanation. Then an option to get rid of those dastardly abominations!

That explains that. Of course what it doesn't explain is why that wouldn't be mentioned in that article. Or why Mozilla didn't title that shortcut destination as All Downloads. I'm also unclear on what the difference would be between using Control+J and clicking the Downloads icon on the Menu Bar. I think it takes you to exactly the same screen doesn't it? Neither shows you previously deleted downloaded file names?

Note that downloads are history items and you can copy these history items to a bookmarks folder to have these links as a bookmark. However that only gives you the download link and not a button to open the file as saved to the hard drive.

The article mentions two places to find "Show All Downloads". As far as I know, those are the only two places to find it. Why should the article mention that it is not to be found in particular other places??

Experiment with the arrow as you browse and download things, and you'll see the difference: it's something like the current session recent downloads list directly available from the arrow vs. the full downloads list (for two months) available in the Library window.
