they are outlook or previous versions of that and I've tried all sorts of things as suggested by google
If the account is set up for POP access and Thunderbird was configured to leave the server's copy of the downloaded messages, then it's possible the deleted ones were only deleted from your computer and the remote server still holds a copy of them, so please confirm if the account is configured as POP or IMAP.
By Outlook, are you referring to the desktop email client (like Thunderbird) that is part of Microsoft Office, or do you mean the Microsoft webmail service (like Gmail) that is now accessible via Outlook.com?
OK just checked its set up as an IMAP on Thunderbird but when I log in on outlook it also show that the emails are deleted I may not fully grasp how all this works

Es gab früher im TB eine tolle Erweiterung (recover deleted files) , mit der man aus dem gelöschten Papierkorb wieder Dateien zurückholen konnte. Warum gibt es diese wunderbare Erweiterung nicht mehr? Die war so hilfreich, denn wie schnell kann es passieren, daß man aus Versehen etwas komplett löscht, und dann erinnert man sich, daß man diese Mail doch noch gebrauchen kann.
In the past there was a great extension (recover deleted files) in TB, with which you could retrieve files from the deleted trash. Why is this wonderful extension no longer available? It was so helpful, because how quickly can it happen that you accidentally delete something completely, and then you remember that you can still use this mail.
