Google privacy notice

Tonight when I tried to get onto Firefox it took about 5minutes or so before the site came up which is unusual because it normally comes up immediately and it is faster than my previous browser which was Google Chrome. When it did finally show on the screen a site called "Linked in" came up and sent a message saying that it was sorry for any problems that I was having. The another icon came up on the Firefox homepage saying that it had block a social network. Then a privacy notice from Google came up and asked me to agree to all its privacy settings. I am not sure whether I should agree to the privacy settings or whether the other messages are linked in some way. Regards Mark

Hi mark196, please ignore the unofficial support solicitation that someone posted. We have no idea where that leads and don't want you to get scammed.

Hi Mark, that's strange.

Is your home page the same or did that change? You can check by clicking the Home button on the toolbar or launching a new window using Ctrl+n.

Does your Firefox have any new add-ons that could explain the change? You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions. On the right side, find the "Manage Your Extensions" heading.

Then cast a critical eye over the list below that heading. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything you do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove). For your privacy and security, don't let mystery programs linger here.

You also could consider disabling any extensions you won't need for the next few hours, then exit Firefox and start it up again to see whether anything is different.

Any improvement?
