Hello,

Unfortunately, my mate used CCleaner to clear my PC and didn't unchecked "delete history" from Mozilla... So I have lost everything, cache, history, etc. We use the "light" cleaning, not the "secured" one.

I thought that I may be able to restore it with Mozilla Sync but I didn't find anything else than my bookmarks and the tabs on my other device...

I even tried to restore some of my old backup-restore files with Recuva but I was not able to do so.

Am I screwed or is there an option?

Thanks for your help!

You can look at a utility to browse System Restore points and see if you can find an older copy of places.sqlite.

This file stores bookmarks and history, so you lose newer bookmarks if you restore places.sqlite. If necessary create an HTML backup or use a JSON backup to restore the bookmarks.

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup -> Restore

Only bookmarks are backed up. Not history. Unless you created a backup somewhere . . . .

We do not recommend using other programs to clean Firefox because they could corrupt the files. Also, the browser can clean itself.
