Auto-hide bookmarks... you mean like auto-hide for the taskbar? I never knew that was a feature in Firefox without an add-on.

most likely as a menu bar (three lines). When we pressed on it (three lines or bookmarks panel) and then close any open page or do any action on a page then it closes.

bookmarks panel under window for urls

What is the value of browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 on the about:config page ?

When this pref is true then you enable some new features. See also browser.toolbars.bookmarks.visibility = [newtab|always|never]

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".

yes! When you have 5-10 bookmarks its OK, when you have hundreds or thousands bookmarks - this is realy problem!

I need if pressed double arrow the list of bookmarks on the right did not disappear.

Now I have to constantly open a separate tab for all bookmarks

my settings: browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 = false browser.toolbars.bookmarks.visibility = always

if I change to true - result the same.

There is only a limited space on the Bookmarks Toolbar for bookmarks and bookmarks that do not fit are moved the the overflow area (chevron) and since you have a lot of folders you have a long list in this overflow area. If you want all of them available then you will have to reorganize the bookmarks and create as many folders ion the Bookmarks Toolbar as fit in your Firefox window width and move all folders to sub folders. You can open the bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl+B) if you want to have a permanent view. You also have the bookmarks menu button (star on a tray) on the Navigation Toolbar that you can use to access a full bookmarks list.

The bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl+B) and separate Bookmars they are the same, they perform the same function and for my tasks it is a crutch. I need the overflow area (chevron) not to disappear after opening. And it will be a great option when it becomes possible to enable and disable its hiding. For wat? When it becomes necessary to move bookmarks between folders with many attachments. e.g. /dirA1/dirA2/dirA3/dirA4/bookmarkA and /dirB1/dirB2/dirB3/dirB4/bookmarkB This is very difficult in the current implementation.

In addition, no way to see the path where it is saved in the bookmark hierarchy to manually correct it.
