When version 84 was installed(automatically) it took out everything in my FF, including book marks and reverted to a new "install". Now when I go to "options" there is a notice that indicates: "Your browser is being managed by your organization." How do I rectify this situation and why did ver 84 clean out my complete installation?

Is this a company computer or your personal?

This is a personal unit. Also, I'm using 8.1 OS.

That doesn’t make sense since I’ve seen that same language in my work computer where it states the same thing. Are you connecting through a corporate vpn? That might also cause an issue as some corporations won’t support Firefox.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

Never have been in business and live 10 miles from the city. Sure hope someone recognizes this one. Very lucky that all my bookmarks were on my phone, it is an arduous task but I'm getting them over to the laptop.

Type about:profiles<enter> in the address bar. How many profiles are listed? How many should be there? Also, open the profile folder in your file explorer.

Hi Fred, yes, there is that folder, all the files are dated 16/12/2020. Is there a particular one to access?

I suggest the first folder of the latest creation date.

Then look in the bookmarkbackups folder. The backups are stored in a jsonlz4 file named something like this; bookmarks-2016-06-29_1424_enD1GTH ya0JmicnYWg4V4g==.jsonlz4

In this example; 2016-06-29 = date created, 1424 = number of entries.

What are the file names there?

Once you have that list: Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Once the window is open, at the top of the page, press the button labeled Import and Backup. Select Export Bookmarks To HTML, and follow the prompts and save it to a HTML file. Copy the file to another computer/profile. Repeat the instructions above, BUT select Import Bookmarks From HTML.

NOTE: Store this file OUTSIDE the profile folder. In your Docs folder for example.

Hi Fred, I found the Old FF backup but the folder inside that pertains to book marks is empty. The bookmarks on my phone are not in a file but part of FF program on the phone. I have been moving them individually to an e-mail and exporting them in that fashion. It is slow but I am 85 and not in panic state so I do a couple of e-mails a day. I really want to thank you for your patience, I have learned a great deal from you and have lots of help from the URLs you provided. Stay safe, Al
