How do I change the default location of my bookmarks?

I prefer to save my bookmarks to my Bookmarks Toolbar but FF defaults to Other Bookmarks. It's annoying at best and a waste of time to have to select the location I want every time. This should be an option. I don't want Other Bookmarks in my toolbar, either, thanks very much.

That's because you have some archaic version. In the latest version it's not annoying and you don't have to select it every time. Please update that browser eventually.

In Firefox 85+ always the last used folder is selected, so if you do not want this behavior then you still have to select another folder each time you create a new bookmark.

In Firefox 85+ you can right-click the "Other Bookmarks" icon on the Bookmarks Toolbar show or hide this button (Show Other Bookmarks).

You can possibly increase the maximum number of recently used folders via the about the about:config page.

Wow! How condescending can you get! I have version 84.0.2, hardly "archaic".

I just updated to the latest version. The problem is still there. I tried three different tabs, each time selected "Bookmarks Toolbar", and every time it goes back to "Other Bookmarks". I had already removed the Other Bookmarks from the Bookmarks Toolbar via the about:config.

If you removed the "Other Bookmarks" button from the Bookmarks Toolbar in Firefox 84 then you likely did this by setting browser.toolbars.bookmarks.2h2020 = false. To enable the new bookmark features in 85+ you need to reverse this change and set this pref to true (default). With the pref set to true you can hide the "Other Bookmarks" folder via the right-click context menu.
