If I set my home page to "blank" in Firefox settings, it defaults to a blank white page. How do I change the color of this page?

Setting background color in the "appearance" section has no effect for me.

I'm on linux if it matters.

Set the following preference in about:config: browser.display.background_color

Open a new tab, enter about:config, accept the risk and search for that preference.

It seems I actually had this set to the right color, both the about:config setting, and the setting in "Appearance". Still I get a white page even though both values are set to `#000000`.

Note that is is best to leave browser.display.background_color at its default setting to avoid issues with websites that only specify the text color and assume that the background color is white.

FWIW, I use a light variant of tan and that works. Perhaps another preference is interfering or a theme or scheme.
