I specifically went to the esr as I don't want the regular changes to things that I don't like on how the page looks and even works at times. And I don't care about whether things are faster. Even if they are I want stability in what I have to use. I seem to always be told everywhere that you have to update and/or you need more security or whatever reason trying to push me to different things. Maybe I misunderstood but I thought that I may never have to do any updates as long as FF supports this. Well I trusted that things would not change when I updated the esr and I didn't even see these weird changes listed but here are things changed to garbage. I want my old FF back. And how do I do this without making a mess of things. I have lots of tabs for one thing and I do not want them messed with. What in the world is always going on? I was on I believe esr 58.11 (no way of telling for sure) and now it is 94. I don't want it.

I am trying to use this and it is just horrific with the dumb changes.

I understand how you feel. I didn’t like where Firefox Quantum was going. So, I stopped updating at v54. So far, no real issues.

I have noticed, however, that some websites don't work properly.

Note: With some versions of Firefox, the data files are not backward compatible. If there is an issue, create a new profile and we can tell you how to recover the data.

Step one: How do you completely turn off update checks in Firefox v64? You can use a policies.json file to disable updates for all users. https://github.com/mozilla/policy-templates/blob/master/README.md or https://winaero.com/blog/disable-updates-firefox-63-above/

You can use a policies.json file in the distribution folder in the Firefox installation folder instead as also listed in the article, so no need to use GPO keys in the Windows Registry. • https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customizing-firefox-using-policiesjson ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ You can use the ManualAppUpdateOnly policy in Firefox 87+ to enable only manual updates e.g. via "Help -> About Firefox".

Note that it is important to stay up to date and install the latest security patches.

Install Older Version Of Firefox {web link} Be sure to read everything here.

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

Note: If you know what version you want, press <Control> (Mac=<Command>) F to open the search bar. Then enter the version number to see the available files.

I am very upset with this mess. Would doing a system restore take me back?

That would depend on what gets restored. Sometimes a restore creates problems. Try what I posted above in the proper order.
