Notifications of incoming emails duplicated
I have the latest Thunderbird and the latest Windows 11 available. When I receive a new email I get a notification with a sound. A minute or so later I get another notification and sound for the same email.
I have changed all the options I can find, in both Thunderbird and Windows Settings but still I get two notifications and sounds.
In all other respects, Thunderbird is working as I expect and is fine. I should be most grateful if someone could tell me which very simple change (it's bound to be) will let me have just one notification and sound for each email.

My suggestion would be to go to tools>preferences>general and turn sound OFF and then see if it continues. If it does, then the sound is coming from elsewhere.
Thanks David. After changing the sound setting I still get two alerts, from the Thunderbird boxes that appear above the tray, either with or without sound (which I need by the way) according to the "Play a sound setting".
I used to get the Windows 11 generated notifications as well, also twice, but managed to suppress those, leaving just the Thunderbird notifications.
Following your advice, I made several changes, all the options listed under Preferences, Incoming Mails I think I altered.
Each change takes effect as I expect it would, so they appear to work OK. This includes to use the System Notification instead on the Thunderbird box.
But still I get two notifications for each email.
