Firefox continues to indicate I am using Windows 8. I have NEVER used Windows 8 in my liftetime. I use Windows 10 and after locating the program compatibility location to change to Windows 10, Windows 10 isn't an option. I changed my OS to 10 in your box below. Why? I don't understand this.

2MuchCof33,

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I would never try to uninstall Firefox then reinstall. I am not a computer wiz and since I can't see what's coming ahead I would never try that. I've been given many suggestions and so far none of them have worked, so to uninstall Firefox without knowing what's ahead and not knowing how to fix anything should something go wrong. I just don't dare.

But thanks, for you suggestion.

To Cor-el,

I wanted to ask you a question but keep forgetting. When I'm in the Support page, on the right side of the screen where it says "Tags" it lists "desktop" "Firefox 105", I know that is wrong, in fact I just received an update and I know I'm in 109.something. I just need to do a restart. But it also says "Windows 10". I only see that in the tags, nowhere else.

Is this of any significance? Thanks, Rhon

You have a user agent that identifies you as Firefox 105 on Windows 8 (NT 6.2). The screenshot shows a grayed checkmark for Windows 8 compatibility mode, so something is weird here.

An uninstall and removing the desktop shortcut and reinstalling Firefox might help to fix this.

Can you attach your troubleshooting info (application basics and modified preferences) ?

Hi Cor-el

Believe it or not, I think I fixed the problem. My current user agent is Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv:109.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/109.0 and the OS is Windows_NT 10.0 19042

I wish I could tell you how I fixed it, but I'm not sure. I remember looking at the compatibility section and the Windows 8 was grayed out like some of the other categories, but it's been that way for a while. When I did have access to the selections Windows 8 was as far as it went, option Windows 10 was not listed so I couldn't have checked marked Windows 10.

I just remember clicking on another category and that's when I was able to change to Windows 10, I remember something about User Agent but that's what happens when I'm trying to fix something and I've tried a hundred times then suddenly I've clicked on something and it works.

How's that for a detailed explanation? I really do appreciate you hanging in there with me. I try as hard as I can to follow the moderator's instructions but information gets lost in email text messages.

Thanks again, Rhon
