After 30 or so emails downloaded this morning from Comcast, the following error appeared:

The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail.comcast.net responded: Message 109 expunged.

It started with message 111 but has dropped by 1 each time the attempt was made. When I login directly to my comcast account, there are no error messages seen except that for a while, the email symbol had a red dot at the bottom which has now gone away. Cannot get tech support at Comcast and the local office has no technical support capability.

You and another comcast user posted the same issue within minutes of each other. You're on the right track: this is a server issue and checking online may help you remove whatever is corrupt, preventing access.
