How do I fix a broken association between a "htm" file and it's "files" folder
I recently renamed a number of "htm" files and their associated "_files" folders. I used windows "rename" function, which I now know was wrong. I now know to open the file in Firefox and use the Firefox "Save as" function to rename.
So my improperly renamed htm files no longer associate with their "_files" folders that contain .js, .css and .svg files necessary to open the page. I end up with a blank screen
I've read a number of posts on how to use "save as" to maintain the file and folder association, but I have found nothing on how to "fix" this "after the fact".
Ideas?

That is the OS "Connected Files" feature. This modifies the links in the HTML file to point to a "_files" folder with the same name, so to make such a link work you need to rename both the HTML file and its '_files' to their original name. You can search the HTML file for '_files' if you do not remember.
...I renamed both the "htm" file and the "_files" folder to the new name, but opening the renamed htm file does not seem to be picking up the data from the renamed "_files" folder. I made the name change a while ago, and there doesn't seem to be a way to retrieve the "original" file name(s).
The HTML file has links to the original _files folder, so this can only work if you rename both files or at least the _files file to the original name. Otherwise you need to edit the HTML file and possibly files in the _files folder that have absolute references to the _files folder.
Thanks, cor-el! I will look into the "internals" of these files to find the links... The files are transaction histories from my 401(k) plan. The brokerage firm was sold in September 2022, and I can no longer download and history prior to that date. Calling the firm was useless. Think I need to file a complaint with the SEC!! Thanks for your help!
