When I use Firefox to access the internet an arcade game noise is played through my speakers after a few seconds. This does not happen with IE
I noticed today that when I started up Firefox after a few seconds an annoying arcade game sound (like Pacman) came through the speakers on my pc. I switched to IE and this does not happen. I wonder if there's a virus present? I scanned my pc with COMODO anti-virus and nothing was picked up.
This happened
Every time Firefox opened

I have the same problem, too. It's really annoying
Same deal, on a mac running OS X 10.5.8, reinstalled Firefox, same deal. Some silly virus designer must be having a good day.
I have the same problem
The problem appears to be caused by having the Cool Iris add-on attached to Firefox. I have removed Cool Iris and the problem has gone! I also note that there is now a 'fix' to the Cool iris add-on available for this specific problem

Had the same problem! I didn't have Cool Iris installed but I did have Cool Previews (made by Cool Iris). Uninstalled it and the annoying arcade noise went away. Thanks Paul!
I have the same problem on both of my laptops that run Firefox. Just started today, 5/21.
Exactly, uninstall both Cooliris and Cool Previews, simple effective fix.
I disabled both both Cooliris and Cool Previews and it worked, other than when I go to the Google page. Have to say that this annoyance could certainly turn one against Google.
I just got an update from Cool Previews and the GameNoise is gone!
VernBob, where did you get the update??
You can update Cool Previews to the latest version. See https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/2207/
