The problem is history not clearing, I have two secondary accts in XP I have tried the steps for locked or damaged places.sqlite this has corrected the problem on one acct, the other acct still does not clear history. Any other steps I should take if deleting sqlite files doesn't work ?

If you delete places.sqlite then there can't be any history left unless it is a very old profile (Fx 2.0) that still has a file history.dat in it.

Did you delete the places.sqlite-journal file as well?
