An alternative way to install the latest version of Flash is to use the manual installers. For details of how to do that see the Adobe troubleshooting guide - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

@TonyE thank you for your help. I will try that, but unfortunately it does not address my problem with what is wrong with the plugin container and why it does not work. @cor-el I have updated java. Thaks

If anyone can tell me why the plugin container is not working property I would appreciate it. Thanks

Were you able to install the Flash 10.1 r82 version or did you get an error message?

You can see the installed plugins on Tools > Add-ons > Plugins and on the about:plugins page (open that page via the location bar like a website).

I was able to upgrade the manual way. Any idea why I had this problem and will I have to do it manually in the future? Thanks
