Firefox declares a syntax error on returned text from a XMLHTTPRequest

I have a Javascript function that requests data from a URL. The returned data is in text format and is this comma separated string:

Normal,100,Bad,Good,142,Bad,Good,100,Bad,Bad

which is exactly what I am looking for.

I use the string.split method to separate it into its component parts. However, Firefox says there is a syntax error with this string. At least that's what the error console says:

Error: syntax error Source File: http://192.168.0.2/m3_main Line: 1, Column: 1 Source Code: Normal,100,Bad,Good,142,Bad,Good,100,Bad,Bad

That's pretty cryptic, and I can't see any reason why it is not being accepted. By the way, this works perfectly in IE7. Any ideas?
