Tried to open an email. PCTools showed high risk and uninstalled Firefox, showing it would reinstall a safe version. Hours passed and that didn't happen. Now the computer shows it is "searching for Firefox." When I go to our programs and try to uninstall Firefox manually, I am referred to the website. How do I make sure our computer is cleared before I start from scratch and reinstall a new Firefox from the Firefox web site.

I wonder why PC Tools would "uninstall" Firefox over a security risk in an email?

Firefox doesn't do email. If you are using Firefox to access a webmail service, that service's AV scanner should have isolated the virus to keep it from reaching you; and even if it didn't, the PC Tools AV application should have blocked the virus - not shut down, uninstall, or block Firefox. That's like killing the mailman because you got a bill that you didn't want.

Try the PC Tools support forum, and ask for clarification of what the PC Tools program did. http://www.pctools.com/forum/

That is very odd. Do you mind linking to the thread after you have posted it on the PC Tools forum or letting us know the answer they gave you here? I am very interested to know why the software did that.

Thank you.

Thank you! So it sounds like PCTools has taken care of he problem and I can work with what I can find in our computer to fix it! I now have a new icon shortcut that when I attempt to open it it shows me I have to choose a program to open Firefox "Adobe Reader, Internet Explorer, etc." I've been afraid to do anything for fear of damaging something. Which program should I use to open Firefox?
