The proxy server is refusing connections
I have been running Firefox version 3.6.12. since the version was made available and up until today I have had no problems with it. For no reason that I can discern I now receive the “The proxy server is refusing connections” error every time I try to navigate to any website. When I open the Tools/Options/Network/Settings the Manual proxy configuration is selected. If I then select any of the other options (No proxy, Auto-Detect or Use system) I can then successfully navigate to websites. However when I close that Firefox session and start a new session the same problem re-occurs with the Manual proxy option selected again. I do a lot of web-development in ASP.NET and use Firefox for debugging, so I have several developer tools installed but the installation has been running smoothly prior to this problem. Any ideas?

I reinstalled Firefox and the problem ceased. I was unable to connect to that link, it kept timing out returning a 110 error. I will try again later.
I just now determined that the problem was caused by the proxy settings that I originally set up for Fiddler being lost somehow, then when I tried using Fiddler the other day it attempted to use its default setting of 127.0.0.1 which will not work. Since I had Fiddler set to “Force Traffic” it reset the profile each time I started Firefox. I have reconfigured the proxy settings for Fiddler and everything is working again.
Thanks for the info

This worked for me. Thanks.
To find 'force traffic to fiddler' option, to go Firefox -> Tools -> Monitor with Fiddler -> Force Traffic to Fiddler. Change this to 'Do not use fiddler'.
