Getting Started Screen Pops Up Randomly-How do I stop this?

For a couple of weeks now, when I use the Firefox Browser surfing the NET, the Getting Started page opens up and stays parked until I notice it. Other times in total random fashion, the Getting Started Page opens up at the very beginning when I open the browser.

I also have a persistent Pop Up page advertisement from AVG anti-virus, to get me to upgrade. I don't know how it gets pass all the pop up filters I have, including Mozilla safety.
