Hi there,

That seems extreme? Could you please be more specific and tell us what exactly happens when it stops booting, if you get any errors/warnings and whether you installed something rather strange lately?

Regards, Ziggy

Hi Ziggy, thank you for responding. I turned the computer on as usual. When I went to launch Firefox, the update notification popped up and I let it install the update. Note, all was running well at this point. After it installed, it hung up and would not respond as it normally would with message that Firefox was successfully updated. I had to do a hard shut down since nothing was responding. At that point it would not restart. It only gets as far as the green progress bar, then gives me a message that it cannot start up and if I want to let it try to let it repair itself, which it couldn't, giving me a message stating such. I also tried restoring back to earlier restore points, again without any success. Inserting the original installation disk and performing a repair from the disk was also unsuccessful. It seems to be looking for something integral to the start-up operation which may have become corrupt or wiped out. I have not installed any other programs in the last couple of weeks or ventured into any "unsavory" sites. The computer has not given me any issues what so ever since building it several months ago and has been one of the best trouble-free systems I have built, and there have been many. Since the problem occurred during the update, I can only deduce that the update was the culprit, though I can't substantiate it. Thank you for any ideas.

Can you boot the computer in Safe mode by pressing the F8 key on the boot screen?

Hi there,

Hmm I haven't hear that before. Could you please try to run the installer with administrator privileges (RMB>run as admin) and installing it outside of your program files (on c:\Mozilla for example)? Make sure that Firefox is completely removed from your system, though. (Uninstall Firefox from your computer)

Alternatively, you can also pick up a beta here and see if that works out.

Please let us know if it worked.

I was trying to boot to safe mode but was having issues with that also. I will try banging on it again after my holiday guests leave on Monday.

Thanks to all!

Hey folks, sorry for delay in responding back, but life gets in the way! All attempts to restore system have failed and I will have to reinstall operating system. What ever it was that crashed my system is and may forever remain a mystery.
