I am a disabled user and I need keyboard shortcuts to program the software. Does anyone know the keyboard shortcut for 'Save link as' ? Very grateful for your help. Thanks. :)

There is no shortcut key for such context menu items.
You can use the context menu key on the keyboard to open the right-click context menu on a link and press 'k' for the "Save Link As" item.
You need to press the tab key until you arrive at that link.

You can set the pref browser.display.focus_ring_width to a higher value (I use 3) to make it easier to see which link has focus.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Dear cor-el thank you so much for your help. I have changed the display focus to 3 wonderful suggestion. We have tried to get this information but after many hours on the phone to Microsoft and Dell no help whatsoever.

You have answered my question perfectly unfortunately I asked the wrong question. What I am trying to do is save a link as a URL shortcut not as a local file because if the link changes there is no way of finding the new location of the information with a local file but if you have the original url address there is a good chance you can relocate the website.

I can see you are a bit of a whizz at this do you have any ideas? Thank you so much for your help and for your super swift reply.

Try the extension posted here to add a link in the saved HTML file:

I think this is a bit complex. I just want to save the webpage as a url link like you do when you drag and drop it into a folder.

I don't want to create a link on a webpage, I just want to save a webpage as a shortcut which links to its url.

Thanks for all your help.

You can't do that easily. An URL contains characters that are not allowed in files names, so you will have to replace those characters if you would paste the URL in the file name.

I don't mind too much about the name it saves as, just that when I open it in fire fox it opens as http://www.blahblah.co.uk ie the actual url address rather than opening as a locally saved copy of the web address such as... file:///C:/Users/7/Pictures/folder name /blah blah.html I am sorry if I am not explaining myself very succinctly, and many thanks for your excellent advice and voluminous knowledge.

You can't do that. If you open a local file then you see the file path of that file in the location bar. You need to open a link to a web page if you want to see the real URL in the location bar.
