suggested search on cnet downloads home page does not highlight

more options

When using the above website Cnet downloads.com the home page has the facility for you to type in the search box what you want to look for.The suggested search should come into play when one or two letters have been type and then will offer suggested search.By scrolling the cursor down the list, where the cursor stops the suggestion should highlight and then by clicking it the search should start and go to the highlighted request. In FIREFOX this does not work. All ad on's ,plugins, bho etc are functioning correctly as is flash. Please help with this question for me plaese as it works well in I.E.8 perfwectly

Click Help | Restart with Add-ons disabled.

In the next menu which appears, choose Continue without making changes. This will launch Firefox in Safe Mode. Then go to cnet.com and type in a search string. You'll see that it works just fine. See screenshot.

This means you have an add-on installed which is blocking the suggested searches list.

So what you have to do next is to repeat the same steps, but when the menu appears, checkmark "Disable All Add-ons". Then "Make changes and restart". Then re-enable your add-ons one-by-one until the problem recurs. Then you'll know which one is the culprit.

For an illustrated guide, see this article: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode

EDIT: I see that it doesn't work when you try to select an item from the list. Apologies for my mistake above.

Same here.

FF3.6.18 and IE9 OK.

FF4.0.1, 5.0 (final) and Chrome 12 not OK.

Very niggling, I use cnet a lot.
