I am used to seeing the "universal" lock symbol in the lower right corner of a secure page. I do not see that with the Firefox version I am currently using - 4.0.1 Although the url says https - unless I see the lock symbol I will not conduct secure transactions. I'll have to revert to an earlier version or move to Internet Explorer - which I am reticent to do. I have been a Firefox user since its inception. R.Ferrara

The whole status bar was redesigned, so now you use the area to the left of the address (green, blue, or plain) to check whether the site is secure.

Site Identity Button | How to | Firefox Help

Other discussions about this change mention an add-on you can use if you really prefer seeing a lock:

Padlock :: Add-ons for Firefox

I haven't tried it myself.

Thanks for the info. I understand what's going on now. Just takes getting used to I guess.
