In Firefox 5 the auto spell check is not working. Where is the Tools from where it can be activated Version 4 had it.

Just upgraded to version 5. Auto spell check is not workin. Version 4 had a Tool menu which could take me there. I cant see it on version 5. I want the spell check. What needs to be done?

Press F10 or tap the Alt key to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.


Do you have a dictionary installed and selected?

  • You can see which dictionary is selected if you right-click in a text area and open the Languages submenu.
  • Open the "Add Dictionaries" link to install a dictionary if you do not have one.
  • Make sure that [X] "Check Spelling" in the right-click context menu is check-marked.

You can enable or disable spell checking globally:

  • Tools > Options > Advanced : General: Browsing: "Check my spelling as I type"
