It just stopped allowing me to open new tabs no matter what I do, going to File, open new Tab or click the + sign to the right of the last tab in the Tab bar. It also won't open a new window in a Tab instead which is what I have chosen in option.

This issue can be caused by the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)

Your system details show that toolbar in the user agent as AskTbWBM3/3.13.1.18107

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

It no longer matters, I installed ver. 7, it might matter though if I decide to go back to ver. 6 because I really don't like the new display ( I don't like Thunderbirds either) so I run them both in Windows xp sp3 compatible. I found that searching through 250 themes was too time consuming.
