Firefox 8 freezing constantly in Mac OSX. oddly will work during private browsing?
Hi All,
I'm not too computer saavy and this is the first time I've had a problem with my dear firefox that I love using.
So what happened, I was clearing out my browsing history/downloading history/cookies just some regular cleaning and then it froze on .... mac spin wheel of doom...while i was trying to clear it out. So I go ok "force quit" and get out and then I try to clear it again, it freezes, so then I just go back in and try to access google.com and it freezes and I have to force quit. I tried all the things on the trouble shooting site and it none of them seem to work. I tried to competely uninstall firefox, but I couldn't even access this page appropriately on this website to get rid of it. What do I do? The odd thing is that when I go into private browsing, the browser works fine and doesn't freeze. I'm really frustrated and about ready to just wipe my mac clean and start fresh with this because I really like using my firefox :( Help! Please!

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
- Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
- Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete cookies.sqlite-journal and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
