when i click on firefox icon on my desktop or menu bar I get choose the program you want to use to open file file (firefox.exe) (this is also happening with ie as well)

when i click on the Firefox icon to open a new window I get a pop op telling me to pick a program to open file. Same thing happens with Internet explorer. however when I go to file new window, I am able to open a new window.

then try to run Firefox
