When I am on a business website and click the link to email the business, an email form pops up that has my OLD, defunct email address in it. How do I change this setting to get my new email address involved? Thanks!

Hi kkell5,

Are you talking about the forms autocomplete feature? So every time you try to fill out a form that asks for an email address, your old address shows up as an autocomplete option. Is that what's happening? If so, don't worry! It's an easy fix. This article from the Knowledge Base has all the information you need. It will show you how to use and manage the autocomplete feature.

Hopefully this helps!

I think I'm talking about something different. For example, when on a website that has a "contact us" link, I click on it, and up pops my old email "compose email" format. I hope this is clear, and I appreciate the attempt to help! This has been very annoying.

On reflection, maybe I can clarify the problem even further. I currently use gmail. Before, I used Mozilla Thunderbird with an ISP in my community. What happens is that the Thunderbird email format pops up showing my old email address. I need to disengage this but don't know how. Thanks for any help you can give.

If you want to remove saved form data from a drop down list then use these steps:

  1. Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
  2. Highlight an entry in the drop down list
  3. Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.

Please see my last entry above. The problem is not with drop down lists. I think maybe I need to disengage or change the settings from Thunderbird, which I no longer use for email, but I do not know how to do that. Any help will be appreciated.

Do you get a drop down list if you clear that input field and double click that field?

You may need to click outside that form and and back in that field to temporarily shift focus out if it.

Edmeister,

This looks like what I was looking for! Next time I use a web link I'll find out if the problem is fixed. Thank you very much for directing me to these settings. I would never have found them on my own....
