can i set up mutiple home pages using fire fox using distinct desk top icons?
is it possible to set up multiple firefox desk top icons each with it's own home page with their own down load folders? if not, is there a way to set it up so that i can toggle between search engines, each having its own down load folder? I'm kind of a newbie who doesn't want to rely on google any longer after discovering the invisible web but would like to be able to use all of it's resources as well as google from time to time.

You can use extra profiles if you want each desktop shortcut to open a Firefox session with its own settings.
If you want to share some data then you can use Firefox Sync.
